all done in-house, one visit
We know how inconvenient it is to wait to have your crowns made and come back for a second visit.
At Advanced Sedation Dentistry, we have a better solution… We’re able to assess, create and fit you with your full or partial crown all in one visit!
We offer many different types of crowns, and our dental professionals will be able to guide you through the process from start to finish.
And if you need other dental work done at the same time, that’s no problem. We’re here to help make your dental health care as convenient as possible.
Why do you get cavities?
First, understand that cavities—or tooth decay—are damaged areas that can result in small openings or holes in your tooth enamel. This breakdown is caused by acids produced by bacteria in your mouth. Avoiding sugary foods and drinks, and proper cleaning of your teeth can help prevent cavities.
How are cavities filled?
Our dentists clean away the decay inside a cavity, preventing further damage. Next, they fill the cavity with composite resin or other material to restore the strength and integrity of your tooth, and prevent decay from returning to the same area.
How long do dental fillings last?
It depends on so many factors! Where is the filling in your mouth, how big or small is it, if it’s a composite filling, a gold filling or different material, and how well—and regularly—do you clean your teeth all influence the life of your fillings. That said, a filling will usually last between 7 and 20 years.
What happens when a filling comes out?
Don’t panic, this is not typically an emergency. But you should try to get in to see your dentist as soon as you’re able. If your filling has actually come out or it’s just loose, decay can take hold and start to spread, and your tooth’s nerve can ultimately be affected.
What is the best dental crown material?
“Best” is a subjective term, but as a general rule, gold crowns and porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns tend to last longer than others. On the other hand, ceramic and porcelain crowns may look more natural and are often chosen for front teeth… And they’re also a good choice for people with metal allergies.
How long does it take to place a crown on a tooth?
Here at Advanced Sedation Dentistry, you don’t have to make two different appointments for a crown procedure like you do at other practices. We assess, prepare and shape your tooth, take an impression, create your crown, and cement it to your tooth all in one visit. This usually takes one to two hours.
What are dental bridges? Why is it a dental bridge?
If you have one or more missing teeth, you might need a dental bridge. This device literally “bridges” the gap made by missing teeth, with a false tooth (or teeth) anchored on each side with a crown. Sometimes, the false teeth are implants, which help hold the bridge in place.
How should I care for my dental bridge?
Keep up good oral hygiene, and pay close attention to the bridge area, doing some extra flossing underneath and around your bridge to keep plaque at bay. The teeth that are supporting and facing the bridge are most vulnerable to food debris.
