What are dental dentures?
Dental dentures are removable false teeth and gums that are custom designed to fit your mouth and to replace missing teeth or if you’ve had teeth removed. There are two types of dentures available: full and partial dentures. Just as it sounds, full dentures are used when all teeth are missing, and partial dentures are used when some of the natural teeth remain.
Why do people choose to get complete dentures?
Complete or full dentures are chosen (or needed) when a patient is missing most teeth due to gum disease, bone loss, decay, discoloration or injury. Chewing and talking can become difficult. With effective dentures adhesives, patients can use their full dentures with confidence, and the dentures can also be easily removed, so for some people, they are the perfect solution.
Do people with dentures go to the dentist?
Just because you have fewer or no natural teeth does not mean you shouldn’t be taking care of your mouth. A regular dentist visit gives you the opportunity to have a professional examine your mouth for oral health issues such as gum disease, be sure your dentures continue to fit you properly, and prolong the life of your dentures.
